It’s almost time to close the book on 2021. It’s been a year of progress and setbacks, of small pivots and big ones, of tough challenges and even greater triumphs. Like every year, right? And maybe there are some things you’d rather just leave in 2021? Walk away and move on?
That’s totally fine. You have my permission to set whatever it is down and not look back.
But one thing we always carry with us into the new year is ourselves. Our true, authentic selves. Who we are at the soul level.
So maybe you let fear make a few decisions this year. Or put self care on the back burner. Or second guessed your soul on some stuff. That’s okay. I struggle with these issues, too. We all do. Becoming our truest, most authentic self is an ongoing process! So we keep going. We keep trying. We look for those small pivots we didn’t notice before. We stretch our mindset to encompass new opportunities.
If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you know that I’m a big believer in audits. Sometimes you need to sit still—sit quietly—with your soul and take a good, honest look at your life, your environment, your job, your network, your heart. How are you going to tap into your authentic self even more next year? What are your plans for walking in your brilliance in 2022?
I have a few questions to get you started …
What are the things you believe that just aren’t true?
Have you built your life on ideas about yourself that simply aren’t true? We all do. Maybe they were true once, but no longer are. Or maybe they were never reality, but just someone else’s perceptions. Shift your mindset about who you are at your essence and what you’re capable of.
Is your life out of alignment in some way?
Have you lost sight of the big picture? (Easy to do these past couple of years!) Are you unclear on your why? How can you impact something larger and more important? Take the time for some deep soul work and then think bigger, believe bigger.
What is your miracle question?
If you could miraculously fast-forward to a time when a decision you’re facing has been made, what would that look like? What would it feel like? When you can envision the future, you can step into the future.
Where can you be a leader?
Pick leadership opportunities that build your skills and brand. Volunteer your time to activities and organizations where you can lead, not just participate.
What’s your next pivot?
Successful people pivot constantly. They know that small and mid-sized pivots put you in position for the big pivots. Never stop looking for where you can grow, for new people you can add to your circle, for the minor tweaks that incrementally add up.
